Registration
The Pest Control Service Industries Board (PCSIB) has
implemented the following structures and registration systems with
effect from 1st March 2001.
The purpose of these regulations will be to ensure that
all aspects of Act 36 of 1947 and the Skills Development Act of 1999 are
adhered to by the Pest Control Service Industry.
The Pest Control Service Industry means the industry in
which employers are associated with employees for the application of any
product to control pests, weeds and fungi, or who inspects property for
the presence of pests, weed and fungi to establish the presence or not
thereof. And/or to recommend the method of prevention or remedial
treatment of such pests, weeds or fungi.

The following organizations and individuals are
included:
A. EMPLOYERS:

All Pest Control Organizations
-
All Weed Control Organizations
-
All Organizations that carry out Inspections for
Wood Destroying Organisms
-
All Wood Preservation Organizations
-
All Government Departments, Semi Government
Departments and Municipal Offices that employ Pest Control
Operators.

Any Organization that employ Pest Control Operators
for the purpose of applying or selling a Pesticide, Herbicide and Fungicide.
B. EMPLOYEES:
Any individual who applies Pesticides, Herbicides or
Fungicides or who inspects a property for the presence of pest, weeds
and fungi to establish the presence of not thereof, and /or to recommend
the method of prevention or remedial treatment of such pest, weed or
fungi.

C-REGISTRATION:
The Pest Control Service Industries Board shall maintain a register
of pest control companies with effect from the 1st
March 2001.
This annual C-Registration will in future be a prerequisite for any
Employer in the Pest Control Industry.
The BOARD will reserve the right to withdraw this registration if
any of the regulations that apply to the Pest Control Industry are
not adhered to. In such an event the Employer concerned will not be
allowed to operate in the Pest Control Industry.
There is no charge for registration of companies. However, a charge
may be levied for the issue of a certificate confirming
registration.

E-REGISTRATION:
All employees of registered companies as set out above shall be registered with
the PCSIB with effect from 1st March 2001 and thereafter on the date
on which they are employed.
All E-Registrations will be linked to the C-Registration and with
the AgriSETA in terms of the Skills Development Act of 1999.
The C & E Registrations must be in place before an employee will be
allowed to register for the control operators course.
There is no charge for employee, operator or student registrations. However, a
charge may be levied for the issue of an employee card.

P-REGISTRATION:
Individuals who have complied with all the above registration
requirements and who have passed the pest control course offered by
the PCSIB may apply to the Department of
Agriculture for a P-Registration. (permanent registration)

OPERATING PROCEDURES AND REGISTRATION PROCESS:
The following procedures were set in place to set aside all confusion
about what is expected from all members of the Pest Control Services
Industries Board to be sure all clients receive equal service and to
prevent people from operating illegally.

All Pest Control Operating Companies must be
registered with the Pest Control Service Industries Board in respect
of the Skills Development Act 56 of 1981 rewritten in 1998.

For an individual to register with the PCSIB, you
must either have a registered company on your name, you must trade
as a sole proprietor or you must work for a registered company. You
must also be VAT(if not-a TAX clearance certificate will be sufficient ) , PAYE and UIF registered.

To register with the PCSIB you must contact Simone’
or Linda at the office at 012-654 7708 or 012-660 1678 or on 083 294
8066.

You then have to complete the registration forms for
the PCSIB and attach to those copies of the following registrations
: CC registration documents, VAT registration or TAX clearance certificate, UIF and PAYE
registration and Workmans compensation registration.

No application will be considered without the
relevant registration documents being in place or the registration
fees not being paid up to date.

If the above cannot be supplied, a letter of
application of exemption must be supplied that has to be reviewed by
a committee (only special cases)

The PCSIB registration consists of two very
important forms: The Company registration form and the Student/Operator
registration form.

The following people fall under the Student/Operator
category: All company employees involved in the physical pest
control work done. All the newly appointed employees who still have
to do the course through the PCSIB. All
employees involved in day to day pest control and all Qualified
operators.

The following companies falls under the Company
registration: All pest control organizations / All weed control
organizations / All organizations that carry out wood destroying
inspections / Suppliers of Pesticides,
Herbicides and Fungicides / All Government departments, Semi
departments and Municipal Offices that employ pest control operators
/ Any organization that employ pest control operators for the
purpose of applying a pesticide, herbicide or fungicide. And the
owners of the companies.

The following information must accompany the
Student/Operator registration form: A copy of the individuals ID document
and 2 x colour ID photos.

Point D’s documents must accompany the companies
registration form.

Without this coarse registration form, no study guides
can be forwadedn to the students. All course registration forms MUST
be accompanied by a CLEAR proof of payment.NO books will
be sent without proper proof of payment

All fees for registration must be paid in in full
before registration can take place.

It is very important that every Student
has at least 6 months field experience to their name
befor applying for their P-Registration certificates.
